China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA)

The China Scholastic Competency Assessment (CSCA) is an official standardized test for international students applying for undergraduate programs in Chinese universities. It evaluates students’ academic readiness and language proficiency, which are required for admission under the Chinese Government Scholarship and other programs.In 2025, CSCA will introduce the Home-Based Testing (HT) mode, which allows students to take the test from home under live remote supervision.

CSCA Test Schedule 2025-2026:
Frequency: CSCA test will be held 5 times annually.
Schedule: December 2025，January，March，April，June 2026.
HT( Home-Based Test) Setup:
Primary Device – Computer or Laptop
- Windows 7 SP1 or above (Mac or other operating system not supported)
- RAM ≥ 4GB, Screen ≥ 1366×768
- Camera ≥ 720P (1080P recommended)
- Must install the official CSCA Testing Client

Secondary Device – Smartphone or Tablet
- Used for 45° rear-side monitoring
- Clear view of the student and screen
- Requires an official monitoring app installed
- Must remain powered during test

Network Requirements- Upload/download bandwidth ≥ 20 Mbps - Wired
broadband recommended - Backup 4G hotspot suggested
1. Quiet, enclosed, well-lit room only(parks, internet cafes, restaurants, open office areas etc. are not allowed).

2. shouldn't have another person in the same room.

3. desk and chair are must （don't sit on bed/sofa）.

4. Scratch tool: a small whiteboard or a blank paper in a transparent file bag with an erasable marker.

5. Paper, ballpoint pens, pencils, etc, are not allowed. All notes must be erased on the spot.

6. Cameras must remain on throughout the test.

Subject syllabus

Mathematics: Sets and Inequalities, Functions, Geometry and Algebra, Probability and Statistics.
Physics: Mechanics, Electromagnetism, Thermodynamics.
Chemistry: Basic Chemical Concepts and Calculations, Properties and Reactions of Substances Properties and Reactions of Substances, Chemical Theories and Laws, Chemical Experiments and Application.

After the Exam: Commitment Form - Wait for submission confirmation - Erase notes in front of the proctor. - Do not delete files until results are released.

Before the Exam: (suggest to enter 30min in advance） - Log in using the Admission Ticket number and password - Complete facial recognition & ID verification - Connect the secondary monitoring device - Show ID(Passport), Admission Ticket, and whiteboard - Confirm Integrity After the Exam: Commitment Form.

During the Exam: - Stay visible to both cameras - No switching screens, phones, or notes - System auto-saves progress; resume if disconnected

- Results are released within seven working days after the test.
- Download score report from www.csca.cn.
- Valid for two years from issue date.
- Recognized by Chinese universities for admission and scholarship evaluation.
